Types of keys a locksmith should be familiar with:

Master Key – A master key is a key used to open multiple locks. In homes, for example, the master key is usually used to open all the doors in that particular residence, but each other room key cannot function in this way.
Vehicle Keys – vehicle keys are made to open car doors, trunks and glove compartments in addition to being the ignition key of the vehicle itself.

Lever lock keys raise flat levers in the lock which allows the levers to line up and move a bolt back and forth. Cylinder lock keys align the lock pins with the key and the shear line of the cylinder lock which permits it to rotate,turn the key, and open the lock.
