In my line of work, as a Miami locksmith I am often questioned about many different things that I do. It happens quite a lot where I arrive at a Miami job site and will be making new keys for a person who has broken them or lost them. There can be a myriad of reasons for this, but if they are used as a child’s play thing they have been known to be throw into places, as well as mysteriously disappear. When it comes to them as a tool, well, we all should know that a key is not as thick as a screwdriver and they can be bent or snap. I think it deserves mentioning that if you are taking a road trip you might want to have back up keys. I have a large amount of work that comes to me from out of towner’s who vacation here and lose their keys. It is not a difficult thing to remember that your keys, no matter how valuable they are, can get lost extremely easy when you’re enjoying yourself. By making copies of keys you are “insured” and then leave them in your bag you will have the peace of mind that there is an extra set back where you are staying. A locksmith in Miami or anyplace you might be can fix this problem for you, but if you want to lessen stress, make copies. For the last bit of advice here, and you should take this seriously, is to pay more attention to the locks on your doors. Most people do not take the time to do this and they honestly should. Locks at home or work should not be lose or rattle and they most certainly should not be too tight or stick too much. When this happens it means the lock can be defeated or it can snap a key right in half. Consult with a locksmith so that you don’t have any problems that will cause big headaches later.
