The basic model is a simple latch that can be opened from the inside and unlatched with a key from outside. Top-of-the-range models will incorporate additional functions such as double-locking, dead-locking, resistance to hacksaw and drill attack and resistance to picking.

The outside operation is by key, but this can be disabled by using the snib button on the inside as a crude deadlock function. A simple turn of the key will deadlock both the bolt and lever inside. This prevents intruders from gaining access via another means and releasing the lock with the lever inside, but also means that it is possible to lock yourself indoors.

Padlocks – Includes an extraordinary product selector for brass bodied padlocks, lever, cylinder, discus, laminated and combination padlocks, plus padbars, hasps and staples etc.

Models available now include stainless steel digital locks which are extremely corrosion resistant.

If you really want to complete home security, you can increase protection of your house by implementing a residential alarm system. Most criminals would rather target a residence or commercial property that is NOT protected by a burglar alarm. Also, government statistics show that the majority of attempted burglaries done on protected homes are actually unsuccessful. This proves that burglar alarms are an excellent form of security and a sucessful deterrent to most prospective burglars.
