Sliding Glass Door Lock Repair
Sliding glass doors makes wide entrance to your home and an unobstructed view to your terrace, recreation area or to your backyard to which they lead. This enables parents to observe their kids at play much easier than opening a door made by wood to look outside of their home. While such other doors can be convenient, their locks sometimes need lubrication, cleaning, and adjustments to secure them properly.

Steps to repair a sliding glass door lock:
- Turn your round door lock inside of the sliding glass door away from your door jamb to unlock your door. Open your door.
- Push the trigger on a can of pressurized air and immediate spray inside the lock on the door’s edge. Foreign objects, dirt, or debris in a sliding door lock may avoid the latch from moving. By spraying in a pressurized air in the sliding glass door lock will remove any debris.
- Spray an enough amount of a lubricating spray on the door latch on the sliding glass door’s edge. Let the lubricating spray stay for a minute and spray the latch once more.
- Rotate the locking knob right to left and examine the latch movement. The lubricating spray will enable the fluid movement of the latch so it will pull in when unlocking and moving into the strike plate in a doorjamb to lock.
- Loosen the screws on the sliding glass door lock strike plate on doorjamb with the small flat screwdriver by rotating each screw counterclockwise. The latch plate will move up and down in its chamber, when the screws are loosened.
- Move the door about to closed and examine the level of lock on a latch.
- Move the sliding glass door lock strike plate up and down to allow the lock in middle of latch plate.
- Hold the latch plate with only one hand and tighten the screws in clockwise direction.
- And now close the sliding glass door, the turn the sliding glass door knob to lock position and attempt to pull the door open to check the repairs. The sliding glass door should not be open when it is in locked position.
